What is in a name?

What is God's real name? Yah? Yahweh? God or Gawd?

In today's political climate, we see name changing happening all the time.

For example:

"Mankind" is now changed to "Humankind"

"Transvestite" is now changed to "Transgender"

"Illegal Alien" is now changed to "Undocumented Immigrant/Non-Citizen/Migrant"

"Terminating Pregnancy" changed to "Abortion" then to "Women's Health Choice"

Throughout history, subtle changes in words helps change the meaning behind the words. The master of this craft is Satan himself, as he changed the meaning of Yah's words in the Garden of Eden, so Adam and Eve could sin. The manipulation of truth, even a slight manipulation, is a carefully crafted trap by the enemy. Mankind suffers the consequences.

We can also see this type of name changing happening within our bibles. In class earlier this month, KJ read a commentary from the Hebraic Roots Bible that states the follow:

The Creator's name is YAHWEH and He states He will not give His glory to idols (Isa 42:8). When Judah went into captivity in Babylon from that time they stopped using the true name of the Creator YAHWEH, and in doing so caused the nations and ultimately Christianity later to adopt the personal name of the Babylonian deity “god” or “gawd” instead of YAHWEH.

This commentary is placed inside of Ezekiel 20 as Yahweh keeps stating his name over and over.

Ezekiel 20:5 And say to them, So says Adonai YAHWEH: In the day I chose Israel and lifted My hand to the seed of the house of Jacob, and I was made known to them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up My hand to them4 , saying, I am YAHWEH your Elohim.

Ezekiel 20:19-20 I am YAHWEH your Elohim, walk in My statutes, and keep My judgments, and do them. And guard My Sabbaths to keep them holy, and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am YAHWEH your Elohim.

Could it be that Yahweh was over emphasizing his name, while the Hebrews were in captivity in Babylon, so they would not get him confused with other gods or "gawd" the deity of fortune. Could this subtle name change cause "unintentional sin" for the follower of Yahweh, and unknowingly give into idolatry?

At least we can be assured that our Elohim has a name He desires to be called. Yahweh! Let us be assured his name is above all Names!
